BALMAIN - A UNICEF CHILDREN'S RIGHTS RESPECTING CLUB

E-mail Print PDF

unicef

Dear Members,

Balmain DFC is sending out to our 1,380 Junior boys and girls information on the club's signing-up as a Children's Rights Respecting Club.  Media Release - UNICEF & Balmain DFC Unite

As part of Balmain DFC's link with UNICEF, Balmain DFC is committed to our juniors gaining awareness and supporting this important initiative. Our juniors teams are being asked to 'sign-up' to the UNICEF charter,  which builds on existing initiatives by Football NSW and Canterbury District Football Association to ensure our children are aware of the spirit in which sport should be played.

All juniors will be handed out a Fact Sheet on the UNICEF initiative with their 2012 player cards. We are asking coaches and managers to also communicate the message to their teams and 'sign up' their team.  SIGN UP YOUR TEAM HERE - you can drop-off the signed form at the Callan park pavillion canteen on any of your weekend games.

Balmain DFC's link to UNICEF is significant. We are the first Australian grassroots club to join the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United, Glasgow Rangers and Sydney FC in supporting the global childrens charity organisation.  Tim Cahill, a former Balmain player, is a UNICEF ambassador, joining names such as Lionel Messi and David Beckham.

Balmain DFC will shortly outline some sponsorship fund raising plans, including a Fun Run.  And there will be the opportunity for teams to raise funds by a donation for each player/team to display the UNICEF logo on team shirts.

We look forward to our members embracing this high profile opportunity to show the spirit of Balmain DFC members by supporting the global UNICEF work in so many countries every day.

Kind Regards

Balmain DFC Executive Committee
